The Bharat Mandapam at New Delhi’s Pragati Maidan will be the site for the 18th G20 Heads of State and Government Summit on September 9–10, 2023.
Background For G20 Summit.
In order to provide Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors with an opportunity to debate international economic and financial challenges, the G20 was established in 1999 following the Asian Financial Crisis. After the global economic and financial crisis of 2007, it was elevated to the level of Heads of State or Government, and in 2009 it was named the “premier forum for international economic cooperation.” The G20 members account for nearly two-thirds of the world’s population, over 75% of global trade, and about 85% of the world’s GDP.
Guests for the G20 Summit in New Delhi might be welcomed by cutouts of langurs. Not only that, there might be people around those cutouts to mimic the sounds of langurs. All these so that the G20 dignitaries don’t get to see any ‘monkey business’.
The cutouts are being put up in an effort to frighten monkeys away from areas that foreign officials would be visiting during the G20 Summit.
In Delhi and other areas where there has been a monkey problem, langurs have been utilized to frighten away monkeys in the past.
The G20 Summit in New Delhi, which will take place on September 9 and 10, is currently under full preparation. In preparation for the international gathering, the Delhi government has been working on a number of projects with the Center.
